Virtal Trust
Today’s technological development brings convenience as well as a deterioration of independent thinking and discrimination ability, thus falling into a state of virtual trust in technology.
The blind trust in AI forms information cocoons that cause people to lose their critical judgments. Unquestioningly believing in doubtful social media news influences people’s subjective perceptions which worsens public opinion orientation. Moreover, devoting to the perfect persona built by unidentified online users, results in a deprivation of trust and personal damages. These technological side-effects are formulated based on the notion of virtual trust, emphasising the importance of awakening people from this false belief and reconsidering their actions.
The installation visualises information barriers established by AI, news and the internet. The design invites participants to break the physical false shell of technology, scan the AR model and reveal the fragile artificial truth. This interaction can be viewed as an act of personal salvation and spontaneously realising the harm of virtual trust.
