Monobloc Unfold
The project aims to fill the void in public awareness regarding the contribution that plastic products have made to societal development. Setting the monobloc chair as the key representation of plastic-manufactured goods, I adopt an interactive approach, inviting the audience to experiment with the construction of the plastic chair. The interaction transforms the design from slick to rough, underlining the process of plastic being gradually rejected by society.
The research approach aims to evoke a sense of self-awareness. Instead of being led by the societal value, the project provides the opportunity allowing individual to critically evaluate their action by understanding the background of the choices. The project informs the audience about the meticulous development of plastic through textual elements, as well as physically through the architectural interaction. In combination, the empirical design thoroughly demonstrates the various aspects regarding the material and the goods, thus advising the audience to be mindful of their choices.
